My dog Pedro and I had a great time working with Steven and Hannah. Steven helped my reactive pup calm down. My dog couldn't even look at a toy dog without going crazy for it. Now he can walk by dogs with little to no issues and I can tell my dog is happier. Steven knows his stuff and is great at working with dogs and people as well. There is so much kindness, patience, and education there that is very cool! The knowledge I gained on how to take care of Pedro and help him was also so helpful. I would totally recommend Steven to anyone who has a reactionary doggo that needs some help! Now my dog is able to go out beyond our little neighborhood and hangout with us!

Steven has been amazing to work with over the past 7 weeks. He didn’t just train my dogs—he taught me how to better understand them and build their confidence. Darci and Trout have both made so much progress, and I’m incredibly grateful for everything we’ve learned. I highly recommend him! Please consider him for any aged pups and don’t be surprised with how fast the progress happens! Services Dog training

My sweet girl has always had trouble since I got her from the shelter. She struggled with recall, being outside of the house around dogs/small animals, sometimes men, and honestly just listening to me in general. I have noticed milestones that I never would imagine my dog would be able to. I feel like Steven has been so understanding and non judgmental. I was always worried to get into training because I felt like I had no idea how to control my own dog, but he has made this process so nice. It’s been an amazing experience overall and I recommend Steven 1000%!

Steven at Venture Dog Training has been an incredible mentor and played a huge role in my growth as a professional dog trainer. He helped me tremendously by deepening my understanding of behavior, structure, and clear communication — not just teaching techniques, but teaching the “why” behind them. His guidance and high standards pushed me to grow in both confidence and skill, and his mentorship contributed greatly to me earning my certification. I’m truly grateful for his leadership and highly recommend him to anyone looking for knowledgeable, structured, results-driven training. Thank you, Steven!!

We are so impressed with the progress our dog has made after just 8 sessions with Steven from Venture Dog Training! She learned how to sit, stay, lay down, take a breath, and leave it—and she absolutely loves Steven (and so do we)! Steven is not only super knowledgeable and professional, but also incredibly attentive. He’s even helped answer questions outside of our scheduled sessions—which we try not to take advantage of, haha! He’s truly passionate about what he does, and it shows. We especially love that Steven comes to our house, making training so convenient and personalized. He even joined us for a session at our favorite bar to help train our pup in a real-world setting, which was exactly what we needed. Steven is kind, trustworthy, and an all-around great guy. We couldn’t recommend him more!

I really loved working with Steven! He was a kind, skilled and knowledgable teacher. I'm neurodivergent and can struggle with task switching between processing verbal in person instruction and actually training the dog, but I try to take in person classes as well as online ones because there's so many benefits to training in a controlled environment like a class. In spite of me having a generally harder time with in person instruction, Steven was very patient, encouraging and a joy to work with. He also was always very flexible if I wanted to do something a different way, and was even creative enough to come up with new solutions himself if I preferred training a skill in a different way, which I did not at all expect. I would not hesitate to take a class with Steven again.

I hired Steven to help get my corgi Chihuahua mix dog with self control since we are expecting a baby in the family and my daughter moved in with her 2 cats. My dog, Oliver, had selective listening skills prior to training and would hyperventilate and bark constantly around the cats. With Steven’s guidance and consistent training approach we were able to get Oliver to listen, and now he can hang out with the cats without barking at all. At first, it didn’t seem like it was going to work, but with consistent training over a three month period were able to be successful.

Steven and his team are amazing! They are quick to get you in for a FREE telephone consult and respond to messages with speed. I went with the fitness and nutrition package shortly after my dog was diagnosed with Hip Dysplasia and Inflammatory Bowel Disease. My dog is fearful of new people, especially men, but Steven was able to develop a plan to help with her stance, gait, and rear end muscle building, and coach us entirely virtually! I have seen a massive decrease in her pain since working with him!! His nutritionist, Amanda, was also able to develop a diet to help with her IBD. She is extremely knowledgeable on all things dog nutrition! I’d recommend Steven and team to anyone who is looking for expert coaching and a trainer who cares so deeply for the animals in their care.

Why Choose Expert Training for Your Dog in North Austin?

In the vibrant neighborhoods of North Austin, dogs navigate high-distraction environments such as The Domain, Mueller and the bustling corridors around Kramer and Braker Lane. Fast-moving foot traffic, scooters, patio crowds and dense apartment living create a unique sensory load, and that load amplifies reactivity, leash pulling and over-arousal.

That is where we come in: to build calm and confidence with skills that translate from home to outdoors, to offer real behavioral insight into what drives your dog's reactions and reshape them with compassion, and to deliver well-rounded support that blends behavior, movement and enrichment for long-term success.

Venture Dog Training provides in-home dog training throughout North Austin, including Round Rock, Pflugerville, Hutto, Jollyville and surrounding neighborhoods, on designated North-side service days so your program stays consistent week to week.

Our Holistic Dog Training Services in North Austin

1. Behavior Consulting & Modification

Dealing with barking, reactivity, fearfulness or aggression? We analyze root causes and coach both you and your dog through sustainable change: individualized action plans built around your dog's temperament, step-by-step support in real-world settings, and behavior strategies that strengthen trust and clarity.

2. Obedience & Manners (Cityside Obedience)

Life in North Austin demands composed behavior in highly distracting environments. A dog that stays calm while you grab a coffee at Domain Northside, ignores other pups along the trails at Walnut Creek, or behaves at a brewery on Metric Boulevard. Reliable cues, calm responses to passing people and pets, and structure inside your routine.

3. Puppy Foundation & Growth (The Puppy Journey)

Welcoming a pup? Early guidance builds positive lifelong habits and lowers puppy stress for the whole family: family-wide alignment so everyone speaks the same language, solutions for nipping, chewing, potty issues and crate anxiety, early essentials like sit, down, recall and leash walking, and fitness coaching that supports focus and emotional steadiness.

4. Canine Fitness

A dog's wellbeing extends beyond commands. Fitness fuels behavior, mood and joint health. Routines suited to breed, age and energy level, weight management support, and performance-level programming for sport dogs, all built on the posture-first Venture Functional Movement Method.

5. Guided Adventures, Group Classes & Workshops

We introduce your dog to new stimuli in real North Austin environments, from quieter residential pockets in Pflugerville and Round Rock to the busier corridors near The Domain and North Burnet, so manners generalize beyond the living room. Urban hikes, social exposure and adventure walks, with real-time coaching for both dog and owner.

6. Aggression & Guarding

Growling, snapping, resource guarding and bite history, led by a CBCC-KA certified behavior consultant inside our behavior program. Safety and management first, then structured change.

How the Process Works

1. Reach out and book your consultation. A friendly, preliminary call or virtual meeting to understand your goals and concerns.

2. Personalized assessment. In your home or a nearby outdoor space, we observe and evaluate behavior, movement and environmental triggers.

3. Tailored training plan. A strategic, multi-session roadmap, fully customized to your dog's temperament and your family's lifestyle.

4. Hands-on lessons and coaching. Each session equips you with practical tools, reinforced by clear feedback and the reasoning behind every technique.

5. Ongoing support and follow-up. Phone, email and virtual touchpoints keep you on course between sessions, with optional booster check-ins for sustained success.

What Your North Austin Neighbors Are Saying

“Steven has been absolutely amazing to work with. When we first started, my dog Jazz could barely go outside our house without completely losing it. He was extremely reactive and anxious about the world around him. Through Steven’s patience, skill and dedication, Jazz has gained so much confidence. Steven helped him realize that the world is not such a scary place, and because of that, Jazz is now able to enjoy experiences that once felt impossible for him. I cannot recommend the Venture team enough.”

North Austin Dog Training Questions

Do you provide in-home dog training in Round Rock and Pflugerville?

Yes. We provide private, in-home training across North Austin, Round Rock, Pflugerville and Hutto on designated North-side service days, so sessions stay consistent and we are not fighting I-35 between appointments. Ask about the current schedule at your consultation.

How are North Austin sessions scheduled?

Our core area is South and Central Austin with flexible scheduling; North Austin, Pflugerville and Hutto are served on set service days each week. Programs are built around that rhythm, with weekly check-ins by phone or email in between, so progress never stalls.

My dog is reactive in apartment hallways and around The Domain. Can you help?

This is one of the most common North Austin cases we see: dense apartment living plus busy retail corridors. We start under threshold at home, build regulation through movement work, then take the skills into exactly those environments step by step.

Which programs do you offer in North Austin?

The full set: behavior modification for reactivity and aggression, Cityside Obedience, The Puppy Journey, canine fitness and conditioning, and guided adventures and group clinics. Structured programs run $980 to $1,260 and every one starts with a free consultation.

Do you run group classes on the north side?

Our group clinics and workshops currently run at partner facilities around Austin and rotate locations; guided adventures use trails and dog-friendly spots including Walnut Creek. Ask us what is scheduled near you.
