Group Training With a Purpose
Most group dog training classes in Austin put eight dogs in a circle and run the same obedience drills every week. Dogs get some socialization, owners get some homework, and everyone plateaus by week four.
Our group offerings are built differently, because they grew out of a behavior and fitness practice rather than a curriculum binder. Dogs work through structured movement: strength, balance, coordination, body awareness and focus, in a supportive environment alongside other dogs. The result is a dog who is not just tired after class but genuinely more capable, confident and regulated in the real world.
Every dog is individually assessed before joining a group. That single step is why our classes stay calm, safe and productive, and why dogs actually graduate to harder environments instead of repeating beginner class forever.

Three Ways to Train in a Group
Canine Movement Clinics
Drop-in fitness and skills sessions at Epic Canine. $70 per session after a $100 placement assessment. Strength, balance, flexibility, cardio and mental endurance in a structured setting.
Workshops
Deep-dive events like Strong Bodies, Calmer Minds: the behavior-body connection workshop, co-taught with fellow certified behavior consultants. For owners and professionals alike.
Guided Adventures
Real-world group sessions on Austin trails and dog-friendly spots. Public manners, recall away from distractions, and long-duration place and stay, rotated across every outing.
Who Group Training Is For
Dogs who are ready to work around others in a controlled setting. Puppies who need structured, advanced socialization beyond the basics. Adult dogs building focus and body control around distractions. Sport dogs improving performance and durability for agility, dock diving and flyball.
It is also for you. Every class coaches the human end of the leash, and our workshops go further, teaching you how stress, physical discomfort and body awareness drive the behavior you see at home. Owners leave with practical tools; trainers and pet professionals leave with a deeper framework they can apply to client dogs.
If your dog is not group-ready yet, that is not a failure, it is a starting point. We will tell you honestly at the assessment and build the private foundation first.

From the Community, For the Community
Venture is a fixture in Austin's dog sport and training community. Steven teaches workshops alongside other certified behavior consultants, provides warm-up coaching and fitness assessments at dock diving events like the Salty Dawg Qualifier at K9 Waterworld, and mentors trainers earning their professional certifications.
That community standing matters for your dog: our group formats are run to a professional standard, with vaccination requirements, behavior screening and small, managed groups. And because we partner with facilities across the city rather than owning one, classes happen where Austin dogs actually live and play.

Group formats build on private foundations: start with In-Home Dog Training or Puppy Training. The fitness side of our clinics comes from Canine Fitness, and reactive dogs should begin at Reactive Dog Training.
Group Class Questions
How are your group classes different from big-box store classes?
Two ways: placement and purpose. Every dog starts with an individual movement and behavior assessment before joining a group, so classes stay safe and productive. And our groups train through the five pillars of canine health: strength, balance, flexibility, cardio fitness and mental endurance, not just sit-stay drills in a circle.
Does my dog need an assessment first?
Yes, for group formats at partner facilities. The Canine Movement Clinic assessment is $100 and covers movement, mobility and behavior screening, so we can place your dog appropriately. Not every dog is ready for a group on day one, and finding that out privately beats finding out mid-class.
What do drop-in clinics cost?
Drop-in Canine Movement Clinic sessions are $70, bookable up to five at a time, with no ongoing commitment. Book at least 24 hours in advance. Workshops are priced per event, typically $200 for working spots and $125 for auditing.
Are group classes right for reactive dogs?
Not as a starting point. Reactive dogs begin with private behavior work, then graduate into carefully structured group settings when they are ready. Our workshops on reactivity are owner-education focused and welcome professionals and owners working through behavioral challenges.
Where are classes held?
At partner facilities around Austin, including Epic Canine and South Austin Dog Center, plus outdoor venues for guided adventure sessions. Locations rotate, and current schedules come out through our booking page and social channels.
